Sara Schmied (left) from Celerina won the silver medal in women's U20 skeleton at the IBSF Junior World Championships 2023 in Winterberg (DE).

The only 17-year-old was the youngest participant in the women's skeleton race. With two even runs and twice the second best start time, she kept the local Viktoria Hansova clearly in check. With clearly the best start and run times, the American Hallie Clarke won the outstanding gold. In the race in the U23 category, Sara Schmied achieved an excellent 7th place.

The German Hannah Neise, who surprisingly became Olympic champion at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, won the junior world championship title. In the men's U23s, 21-year-old Vinzenz Buff from St. Moritz achieved an excellent 10th place.

The Saint Moritz Bobsleigh Club congratulates its two «Ice Talents» Sara Schmied and Vinzenz Buff on the excellent results at the Junior World Championships and wishes them every success for the forthcoming Elite World Championships on the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz - Celerina..
