OMEGA Ice-Talents: Register now for the racing series

Hefti-Bob-St-Moritz.jpg

As part of the OMEGA Ice Talents project, the Saint Moritz Bobsleigh Club offers young people the opportunity to get a taste of bobsleigh and skeleton racing. This includes start training on the new push track in Silvaplana and trial runs on the Olympic bobsleigh track in St. Moritz Celerina. The young hopefuls are looked after by SMBC officials.

The training program of the OMEGA Ice Talents project is open to all interested young people. The SMBC looks forward to as many registrations as possible.

Bobsleighing is one of Switzerland's traditional sports and, from an Olympic perspective, is one of the most successful Swiss disciplines. Swiss bobsleigh teams have already brought home 31 medals in the history of the Olympic Games. With the OMEGA Ice Talents project (see cover story of SMBC club brochure 23/24), under the leadership of Olympic bobsleigh champion Beat Hefti and former skeleton racer Michaela Pitsch, the Saint Moritz Bobsleigh Club also wants to promote young talent and develop future Olympic medal winners.

The aim of the association is to get more young athletes from the Engadin, but also from all over Switzerland, interested in the Olympic sports of bobsleigh and skeleton. Schoolchildren between the ages of 13 and 16 should be able to compete in competitions and have the chance to get to know bobsleigh and skeleton sports first hand.

Explosive strength is the basic athletic requirement for a successful career in bobsleigh and skeleton. With a strong will to perform and continuous, hard training, the other necessary characteristics can be developed. Whether you are an athlete, wrestler, gymnast, stone thrower, footballer or soccer player - with talent and hard work, the path to a successful future in bobsleigh or skeleton is open to everyone. In fact, many bobsleigh and skeleton riders originally come from other sports.
